For your next family vacation, you should travel to Beijing and explore the wonders of China's capital city! Here are some insider tips to make a trip to Beijing with kids fun and memorable.
Beijing may be halfway around the world for many travelers, but its rich history and exciting culture make it a great vacation destination for families with kids of all ages. In fact, a trip to Beijing with kids is an educational, enriching experience for your whole family, and it’s a great way to introduce them firsthand to a new culture. Not to mention, of course, that Beijing with kids is a genuinely fun time! To make the most of your trip, here are some of the most rewarding and exciting things to see and do.
Beijing Aquarium
Sure, you might have an aquarium in your town or city, but the largest inland aquarium in the world isn’t your run of the mill place to check out some sea life. The Beijing Aquarium has more than 1,000 aquatic species on display across seven different miniature ecosystems. Children of all ages will get a kick out of the Whales and Globefish Hall, where killer whales, dolphins, and sea lions intermingle. Older kids will love the Shark Wharf, where you can see divers feed the sharks, and the Rare Chinese Sturgeon Hall, which houses a collection of sturgeon that are unique to China. When traveling to Beijing with kids, the Aquarium is a great diversion, and a familiar feeling way to get them acclimated to a different culture.
Fundazzle
Most families have that one kid who never seems to run out of energy. Drain his or her battery at Fundazzle, which is an indoor playground that comes complete with a two-story jungle gym, ball pit, and trampolines. This is one of the best places to keep in mind on rainy days in Beijing with kids, and you’ll be able to tire them out before strolling through some of the more serious Beijing attractions. If you have an overly rambunctious toddler, Fundazzle is the place to go.
Ride a Rickshaw
Through your hotel concierge, arrange for you and your family to go on a rickshaw tour of Beijing. Riding in a comfortable cart towed behind a bicycle, your guide will take you through the streets of the city and show you the ropes. You’ll get to see fun things like local markets, schools, and major landmarks. Some rickshaw tours will even stop at elementary schools and let you walk around inside, where your kids will get to interact with the students. There are few better ways to introduce China to your family than this when you’re in Beijing with kids.
Try the Food
It goes without saying that Beijing is full of delicious, interesting foods, many of which may be unfamiliar to your children. While in Beijing with kids, try to introduce them to some of the local fare. For breakfast, offer them baozi, which are steamed buns filled meats and vegetables. Hot pot restaurants are also a big hit in Beijing with kids, and the chance to dunk thin-sliced lamb or beef into delicious, simmering soups is a great way to unwind and enjoy a meal.
Le Cool
For only a few dollars per person, you and your family can enjoy a few hours of ice-skating at Le Cool, an indoor ice-skating rink in the World Trade Center. It is open daily, regardless of the temperatures outside, and it’s a solid choice for when you want to cool off and have some fun. Kids are bound to get tired, especially when traveling in a new location, and Le Cool is a great place to relax and consider which sight you’d like to check out next.
Be sure to visit other must-see attractions while in Beijing.
